Today’s porcelain tile takes on the effect of any element better than it ever has. Italian 
research and design creates cutting edge results with depth dimension and realism. In 
combination with achieving any aesthetic it also makes the most functional choice in any 
setting that requires contact with extreme temperatures, acids and chemicals, or material 
that requires a thinner profile.
Porcelain tile is fired in a kiln at over 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. In comparison to ceramic 
tile, the extra couple hundred degrees give it the edge to be completely non-porous and 
suitable for a wide variety of installations that need resistance to temperature, acids, and 
chemicals. It makes an excellent choice to use in exterior applications, like facades on 
both floors and walls, inside pools as the body or just accent, as long as it is paired with 
equally functional grout. 
It makes an ideal medium for extending the line of sight within a design as it is carried from 
the interior of a space to the exterior as so many designers are doing to extend the usable 
space in homes and commercial projects. And its thermally adaptable quality makes it
safe and ideal to use in extreme temperatures, like near fireplaces or in higher elevations 
with below freezing conditions.
The density and strength of porcelain tile give it the ability to perform well in lower profile 
settings as compared to other options and this gives it a more flexibility over other 
materials in contemporary design. It can be made into thin panels to cover walls and 
counters, and even used as pavers that require durability for heavy loads.
The ability to print any look onto a porcelain body make it ideal for adding unique special 
touches to a design that might otherwise be out of the budget. This gives porcelain the 
ability to merge style with function in any application
