As 2025 wraps up we have seen many shifts in different regions of the west coast. An homage to the classic Italian creation has popped back up with many factories introducing terrazzo looks as part of their lineup. This look will definitely continue to gain traction among the cutting edge areas and will slowly creep into the general public’s palate as the look becomes more marketed. Bosphorus has seen great success here with our Terrazzo-look and expects a continued appetite among the market here on the west coast.
Terrazzo was born from a want to recycle. The nature of this tiles inception was a waste-less thought that created an interesting and stunning look. The tile originally was formed by taking discarded marble chips and embedding them inside of clay that created a tile spotted with jagged contrast. This creation continued through the centuries most notably during the 1920s art deco and the 1950s-70s mid century modern decades. The west coast has been eyeing this style as one of their new favorites and has been steadily gaining palatable attraction among all.
Along with terrazzo looks the preference of matte finished tiles is here to stay. Quiet luxury seems to be taking over consumer taste with many preferring a more subdued and easier on the eyes look for their tile settings. Even among historically common polished looks such as marble, the shift to matte has been strongly noticed in many areas. This isn’t to say that there isn’t a place for bling in the porcelain tile world but many consumers are choosing to keep reflections on the mirror.
On the topic of bling, the shift has been from whole-home polished and flashy to accent pieces. Leave it to scarcity to demand attention on something that should shine. Metal looks have been creeping in quietly into the porcelain tile world as great ways to emblazon a special accent in a project. From polished gold, silver and coppers to more patina’d looks, metal will continue to grow as a fun way to spill luxury all over any surface.
The development of taste for 2026 is still underway and the menu seems to be keeping up. The move to withdraw from the royal palace aesthetic to a more earthy, calm and soft spoken environment is apparent. That being said this still leaves room for the nooks to turn the volume up on the flair.
